Position Overview
As a Caregiver, you will play a vital role in delivering compassionate and personalized care to our clients. Your responsibilities will include assisting with daily activities, providing companionship, and ensuring the overall well-being of those in your care. Duties and Responsibilities of a Caregiver
- Nighttime Vigilance and Assistance
– Stay awake throughout the night to provide continuous supervision and assistance as needed.
– Monitor the patient’s activity to ensure their safety during non-REM parasomnia episodes. - Safety Measures
– Ensure all doors and windows are locked to prevent the patient from wandering outside.
– Remove or secure any sharp objects that could pose a danger.
– Eliminate tripping hazards to prevent falls.
– Ensure the patient does not have access to car keys or other potentially dangerous items. - Managing Parasomnia Episodes
– Use gentle verbal guidance to direct the patient back to bed if they are observed out of bed.
– Avoid verbally or physically confronting the patient suddenly to prevent triggering violent behavior.
– Recognize signs of a parasomnia episode, such as the patient’s inability to engage in complicated or detailed conversations. - Medication Oversight
– Be aware that the patient is treated with Clonazepam, a sedative, at night.
– Understand the effects of Clonazepam on the patient’s sleep behavior and safety. - Light Housekeeping Duties
– Perform light housekeeping tasks during the night, such as tidying up, cleaning, and organizing the living space to maintain a safe and clean environment. - General Care and Support
– Provide emotional support and reassurance to the patient.
– Communicate any concerns or unusual behaviors to medical professionals or family members promptly.
By adhering to these duties and responsibilities, the caregiver will help ensure the patient’s safety, well-being, and comfort during the night.
